A Review of Harvest Guest House (Suite)
On the first night of our vacation, we were looking for a place to stay somewhere along the picturesque Hudson River Valley and I discovered this Hudson Valley vacation rental treasure. Located about a 2-hour drive from New York City and less than 2 miles from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Historic Site and the Vanderbilt Mansion Historical Site. Hyde Park is a perfect stop for a weekend getaway from the city or a long vacation in an area filled with art, culture, and culinary delights.
When we arrived at this Hudson Valley vacation rental, we fell in love with the quiet park-like location nestled in the woods, but still in town. We parked in the guest parking spot and walked to the rear entrance designated for the vacation rental. Our host, Lakota had recently put in a black top sidewalk from the driveway to the unit’s steps. That made rolling our luggage a breeze.
One of the amenities that I really appreciate in vacation rentals is to have two luggage racks. Terry and I always use two smaller suitcases instead of one giant bulky one. This makes moving our luggage much more manageable. Thank you Lakota for thinking of that for your Hudson Valley vacation rental in Hyde Park!
Everything around the home’s exterior said “Welcome” including the lovely flowers. There are a few steps up to the entry, but they’re wide with a secure railing to help if needed.
Our Host Thought of Everything
Once inside our Hudson Valley vacation rental, Lakota greeted us and showed us around the suite. She provided everything we could have needed for an overnight stay and then some. She left notes around the unit with instructions where needed, which I loved. It saves so much time instead of trying to figure out how something works.
Many vacation rentals don’t provide any food at all. This generous host left cookies, fruit, muffins, cereal, milk, cream, yogurt, coffee, and much more. We were definitely not going to be hungry at this stop.
There was also a toaster, microwave, coffeemaker, and small refrigerator tucked into the corner of the room. A table and 2 chairs were there to use for breakfast or a great place to use as a desk if you’re on a business trip.

The bed was very comfortable and the linens were crisp, and clean and kept us at the perfect temperature for sleeping. Since our visit, Lakota has added a separate second bedroom to the rental space, which makes it a great option for a small family, a few friends, or two couples traveling together.
Since our stay there Lakota has opened up the 2nd bedroom to the suite, which makes it perfect for small families or friends traveling together. The adjacent bedroom shares the same bathroom, so it will not be booked for anyone else if you’re only using one bedroom.
Everything You’ll Need in Hyde Park
The spacious bathroom was just steps away, across the hall. Rest assured that this wing of the house is very private, with closed doors between this area and the rest of the house. Of course, the bathroom was stocked with anything you might need or have forgotten. There was plenty of room on the vanity to set your own supplies. There’s a standard stand-up shower that might be a little tight for a very large person, but nothing out of the ordinary. The rest of the suite is extremely spacious. This Hudson Valley vacation rental is probably as big as many NYC apartments.
The large sofa and cozy fireplace all decorated for the season added to the welcoming feeling throughout the suite. Lakota left many brochures and magazines about the Hudson Valley area. She even had extras so we could take a copy with us if we wanted. She provided a binder with other important info like restaurants, contact information, wifi code, and medical facilities. A sweet guest book was also there to share a little about our stay.
More Relaxation Space Outside
It was rainy, the day we arrived, but the next day was crisp and sunny so we had a chance to check out the yard of our Hyde Park vacation rental. There’s a pool that’s available to guests in the summer. You’ll also find a patio set, lounge chairs, a small screened-in gazebo, park benches, and a fire pit. So many perfect spots to relax. Just take your pick.
Sadly, we didn’t have enough time to take advantage of the outdoor area at our Hudson Valley vacation rental. Next time we’ll be sure to spend some time sitting around the fire with a glass of wine if we can.
This Hyde Park lodging in the Hudson Valley, NY is clearly the kind of place you could stay for one night or a few months. Lakota was so friendly and welcoming. She went out of her way to make sure that we were well taken care of. We wouldn’t hesitate to choose the Harvest Guest House suite the next time we’re in the Hudson Valley. Let me know if you have any questions about Harvest Guest House. I’d be happy to answer them or refer them to Lakota, our SuperHost.
