The Green RV Roadtrip

Mondays are always kind of a strange transition day. Many of us are going from a few carefree days where our time is our own and we have a chance to do at least some of what we please on the weekend, to the beginning of a more focused, structured (and sometimes lackluster) schedule during the week.

Perhaps your situation hasn’t allowed you the freedom or finances to venture out of town lately, so Mondays are just a reminder of the status quo.  Or maybe you’re having one of those Mondays when you’ve just returned from an incredible trip.  It’s so hard to concentrate because you’re already trying to figure out how you can get more time off to discover a new more splendid destination.  Are you already mentally stashing away travel dollars in your mind? (Deep sigh…) Such is the life of an adventurous spirit.

So to help remedy the Monday transition I thought it might be helpful to start this regular series. We’ll call it “Money-saving Mondays”.  Since this is a travel site, we won’t be sharing how to grow your own herbs or where to clip grocery coupons. We’ll simply share an awesome opportunity or quick tip each week to help you save money on travel and travel related purchases. You’ll be astonished at some of the cool grants & scholarships (not just for college-age) to help fund your next trip. Plus tons of other money saving deals out there. This way you can take one step closer to Traveling with Purpose, but then get back to reality and your Monday workload. (Your boss can thank me later.) With that said here’s the first tip.

Apply for the next Green RV RoadtripGreen RV RoadTrip Nation

The Green RV Roadtrip is three Roadtrippers joining Roadtrip Nation to hit the road in Green RVs and speak with Leaders across the nation to learn the steps they took to get to where they are today. The Roadtrip Nation film crew documents the experience, which may be included in their documentary series Roadtrip Nation on public television and in their educational curricula for middle school and high school students.

They seek driven, candid, and genuine individuals who are ready to hit the road with the crew for 4-6 weeks in the summer and share their personal stories on camera and with other people in their generation. This Roadtrip typically isn’t right for those who are camera shy. You should also be able to work well in a team, as it’s a collective experience shared with others.

Individuals or teams of 3 can apply.  Applications are open now, but you need to start the process by Dec 15, 2012.  Green RV’ers must be between 17 and 35 years old at the start of the trip.  See more details about applying here.

Would you go on a road trip like this?  Do you have a great tip for saving money on travel?  I’d love to hear about it!
