Don’t Miss Out on This Hyde Park Airbnb

If you’re looking for a place to stay that goes over and above what you might normally expect from an Airbnb, the Harvest Guest House is waiting just for you. This Hyde Park Airbnb suite in upstate New York’s Hudson River Valley is the perfect hideaway to relax and rejuvenate from the busyness of life.

On the first night of our vacation, we were looking for a place to stay somewhere along the picturesque Hudson River Valley and I discovered this Hyde Park Airbnb treasure. Located about a 2-hour drive from New York City and less than 2 miles from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Historic Site and the Vanderbilt Mansion, this is the perfect stop for a weekend getaway from the city or a long vacation in an area filled with art, culture and culinary delights.

When we arrived at the house, we fell in love with the quiet park-like location nestled in the woods, but still in town. We parked in the guest parking spot and walked to the rear entrance designated for the Airbnb rental. Our host, Lakota had recently put in a black top sidewalk from the driveway to the unit’s steps. That made rolling our luggage a breeze.

Arriving at Harvest Guest House (Suite)

Everything around the home’s exterior said “Welcome” including the lovely flowers. There are a few steps up to the entry, but they’re wide with a secure railing to help if needed.

Once inside, Lakota greeted us and showed us around the suite. She provided everything we could have needed for an overnight stay and then some. She left notes around the unit with instructions where needed, which I loved. Many Airbnb’s don’t provide any food at all. This generous host left cookies, fruit, muffins, cereal, milk, cream, yogurt, coffee, and much more. We were definitely not going to be hungry at this stop.

There was also a toaster, microwave, coffeemaker, and small refrigerator tucked into the corner of the room. A table and 2 chairs were there to use for breakfast or a great place to use as a desk if you’re on a business trip.

The bed was very comfortable and the linens were crisp, clean and kept us at the perfect temperature for sleeping. Since our visit, Lakota has added a separate second bedroom to the rental space, which makes it a great option for a small family, a few friends, or two couples traveling together.

Recent Update

Since our stay there Lakota has opened up the 2nd bedroom to the suite, which makes it perfect for small families or friends traveling together. The adjacent bedroom shares the same bathroom, so it will not be booked to anyone else if you’re only using one bedroom.

A brood of chickens has also been added to the property. As a chicken owner myself, I will say that they are so fun to watch and have such great personalities. I’m sure Lakota will make sure that you feel safe and comfortable if you want to “meet” them. If you have kids, they will especially love seeing them. Fresh eggs may also be available for sale if you time it right.

Everything You’ll Possibly Need

The spacious bathroom was just steps away, across the hall. Rest assured that this wing of the house is very private, with closed doors between this area and rest of the house. Of course, the bathroom was stocked with anything you might need or have forgotten. There was plenty of room on the vanity to set your own supplies. There’s a standard stand-up shower that might be a little tight for a very large person, but nothing out of the ordinary. The rest of the suite is extremely spacious. Probably as big as many NYC apartments.

The large sofa and cozy fireplace all decorated for the season added to the welcoming feeling throughout the suite. Lakota left many brochures and magazines about the Hudson Valley area. She even had extras so we could take a copy with us if we wanted. She provided a binder with other important info like restaurants, contact information, wifi code, and medical facilities. A sweet guest book was also there to share a little about our stay.

It’s one thing to provide a few amenities, but these nightstands were packed with everything you could possibly want to enjoy a good night’s sleep. A sound machine, earplugs, an eye mask, and even spare glasses for reading in bed. Just inside the entry area, there’s a shared full-size refrigerator and washer/ dryer that guests can use too. Lakota has thought of everything!

Even More Relaxation Outside

It was rainy, the day we arrived, but the next day was crisp and sunny so we had a chance to check out the yard. There’s a pool that’s available to guests in the summer. You’ll also find a patio set, lounge chairs, a small screened-in gazebo, park benches, and a fire pit. So many perfect spots to relax. Just take your pick.

Sadly, we didn’t have enough time to take advantage of the outdoor area. Next time we’ll be sure to spend some time sitting around the fire with a glass of wine if we can.

This Hyde Park Airbnb is clearly the kind of place you could stay one night or a few months. Lakota was so friendly and welcoming. She went out of her way to make sure that we were well taken care of. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the Harvest Guest House suite the next time we’re in the Hudson Valley. Let me know if you have any questions about Harvest Guest House. I’d be happy to answer them or refer them to Lakota, our SuperHost.

Harvest Guest House definitely seems to be a cool place! Many airbnbs do not provide enough basic food to make a decent cup of coffee. I am impressed that this place provided cereal, yogurt, fruits and muffins too. It is interesting there were reading glasses by the bedside table. So useful! Thanks for sharing this. 🙂
